India bans cruel animal testing for cosmetics, activists elated

MUMBAI: Animal welfare groups (timesofindia.indiatimes.com/to…) were elated on Friday as India took the all important decision to ban cruel animal testing methods for cosmetic products.

The Bureau of Indian Standards has on Saturday approved the removal of any mention of animal tests from the country’s cosmetics standard. The use of modern non-animal alternative tests also becomes mandatory, replacing invasive tests on animals …

PETA’s cruelty over animals shocks the world

June 29: The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which works for total liberation of animals has slaughtered 89.4 per cent of adoptable pets at its headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia, in 2012, a report of Centre for Consumer Freedom (CCF) has revealed ( www.consumerfreedom.com/2013/0… ).

In another report, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Virginia, said the animal care organisation killed 1,647 cats and dogs last year while placing just 19 in adoptive homes.
