Australian animals suffering in Israel

Dear Martina,

Yet again this week there are headlines about cruelty in the live export trade. This time, it’s Australian cattle and sheep being treated horrifically in Israel and it is sickening.

Slaughtered cattle are seen staggering onto the kill floor and hoisted while still conscious, their tails being twisted and broken, and sheep being beaten and forced to jump off the back of a truck because no ramp was provided. And it’s all taking place in a facility approved as ‘compliant’ under the Australian Government’s Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS).
