20 Dog Meat Dealers Can Now Quit the Trade
New Beginning for Former Dog Meat Traders!
Shawn, 20 former Malian dog meat traders are celebrating the arrival of life-changing farming equipment, making it possible for them to grow plants for a living instead. A ceremony chaired by the Sébougou mayor and attended by local village chiefs marked the momentous transition.
With funding from LFT, local partner ARAF-Plateau Dogon gifted the land and supplies locals need to grow crops, like tubers, vegetables and small fruit trees. These former dog meat traders will begin a new, cruelty-free way of life.
The local community will greatly benefit from these resources. And the new farmers are becoming ambassadors for the dogs, speaking out against the brutal Malian dog meat trade. …
