BREAKING: ‘Circus shows’ at UK zoos exploit animals
Dear Martina,
today we are exposing the UK zoo industry for making animals perform in circus-style shows for human entertainment.
Our investigator visited zoos where sea lions were being made to perform tricks and unnatural behaviours as part of daily shows. The shows were held in special purpose-built auditoriums, with tiered seating for crowds to watch the show. Just like what you would see at a circus.
In the shows sea lions were made to balance balls on their faces, ‘clap’ their flippers together like human hands and catch hoops around their necks. Some were made to jump up out of the water on command. Tricks you would expect to see in an animal circus.
