As depicted in the Academy Award-winning documentary, The Cove, the annual dolphin hunts in Taiji, Japan, have just ended after another six-month long season, although harpooning of pilot whales will continue offshore for several more months. We now have reports from CetaBase ( www.ceta-base.com/ ), via the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s Cove Guardians ( www.seashepherd.org/henkaku/ ), of numbers for the entire killing season from Sept. 1, 2015 through February 29th, 2016. Too many animals continue to suffer at the unscrupulous hands of humans despite best efforts to protect them.

Lately, Japan announced that their whaling activities will continue. While whale meat demand has decreased considerably in the country, the hunting won’t stop for ‘political reasons’. As a consequence, the whale population will become more endangered than it already is. Unfortunately, whales are not the only endangered species that continue to be hunted for their meat or particular characteristics. Here are some others …

Dogs need you more than ever

Can you imagine your pet being stolen from your home, bound up painfully, thrown into a cage stuffed full of terrified animals, then left without food or water, until the day that they are violently killed? Can you picture their body being used as food?

This is the reality of the Philippine dog meat trade. This barbaric action happens every day, to create ‘bar snacks’ for vile men. We simply must stop it.
