Schoolchildren Eat Whale Meat to Celebrate Japan’s Whaling Season

The beginning of this year’s hunting season has been celebrated by whalers from a Japanese coastal town with meat feast. A big crowd of schoolchildren was present to witness slicing up of a whale. The town of Wada is 62 miles (100 kilometers) south of Tokyo in Chiba prefecture. Workers carved out a 30-foot Baird’s beaked whale and dozens of 10-year-old students got a chance to watch it during an educational field trip. They were later served the meal of fried whale meat …
