Anti-whaling activists outraged over high sea slaughter

ANTI-WHALING campaigners today launched a broadside at countries “turning their backs” on stopping ocean giants being slaughtered on the highs seas.

Sea Shepherd activists targeted the Australian and New Zealand governments for failing to take action against a Japanese fleet hunting down more than 300 whales.

Both Commonwealth nations were singled out by Sea Shepherd Global for not helping them track down the whalers so they could gather evidence of how they are flouting international laws in the Antarctic.

Japan launched its fleet recently after announcing that it was cutting its annual minke whale catch by two-thirds to 333 animals, describing the quota as “scientifically reasonable” …
