Sign the Petition – Stop Animal Dissection in Schools in Japan!

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued compassion and concern for animals.

JAVA is now running a campaign to end animal dissection in classrooms at elementary, middle, and high schools (“schools”).
In fact, many schools in Japan still make pupils and students dissect live frogs, mice, and fish and others.

In order to end dissection in schools, the Courses of Study must be revised. It is issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and all schools in Japan establish their curricula by referring to this guideline, in which dissection is listed as one of methods to teach anatomy.

Revision of the Courses of Study is carried out every 10 years and it falls in years of 2015 and 2016. JAVA has launched an online petition drive addressed to MEXT Minister as below, calling for deletion of animal dissection from the guideline.

We are asking for your help to ensure that our voice reaches the Minister!

Best regards,
